Seddon Park on Saturday, resulted in the former team being level In the competition with Hunlly-Starr. Several times during the game XX'anderers had comparatively simple opportunities of scoring -but failed through poor shooting io win a game in which they held the territorial advantage. Especially in the last ten minutes XVanderers were presented with opportunities for settling the issue but their efforts at critical stages xve-re weak. The best player on the field was Farr, the Rovers’ goalie, who saved his side from dangerous positions time after time. The teams were:— Wanderers. —Webster. Fishor, McLean, McCall, Caldwell, Coombes, Clarkson, Stewart, Crabb, Robertson, D. Crabb, Fisher. Rovers. —Farr, Bright, Clark, G. Crabb, Phillips, G. Haines. Mead, Moore, Stewart, Shonau, XX’allaco. Wanderers were the first to attack and an accurate centre by J. Stewart gave them a chance to goal but Farr was able to relieve. When Rovers’ turn came, Wallace centred beautifully but the Inside forward failed to take advantage and a kick by Mead rolled behind. From the goal-kick Wanderers look play to the opposite end where Clark, after being forced to concede a corner, drove Wanderers back. When Wanderers came again D. Crabb placed the hall handily but Robertson was wide with a drive. Caldwell put in a tricky run to the goal-mouth tout, with practically an open goal. Stewart cleared the crossbar. A long pass from Caldwell let C. Crabb away for Wanderers but the outside-right, made the mistake, of attempting to shoot from an impossible position. Clarkson then 'had a splendid opportunity but went wide. XX'anderers continued to pound the Hovers’ goal hul a free kick gave, relief until Caldwell found the net with a hard drive to open XX'anderers’ account. The spell ended: XX'anderers 1, Rovers 0. The Second Spell. XX'anderers rushed fo the Rovers’ goal-mouth immediately on resumption and a hard shot from Clarkson saxv Farr effect a splendid save. Caldwell then attempted to swing one in from far out. Rovers went on the offensive and Mead nearly scored when his shot beat the goal-keeper but struck the upright and was deflected out of the goal. A series of Ineffectual attacks followered but a Rovers sally bore fruit when Schonau steered a cross-kick Into the corner of the net. —Rovers 1, XX'anderers 1.

A strong attack by XX’anderers followed but when a goal looked imminent Farr cleared well. However, XX’anderers were not to be denied and a good solo effort by Robertson resulted in a good goal. At once a strong rush by the Rovers’ vanguard carried play to the opposition territory, where from a free kick XX’allace got possession and placed the ball between the uprights. —XX'anderers 2, Rovers 2.

When XX'anderers stormed the goal again they had several chances of assuming the lead but poor shooting spoiled the efforts. Successive shots from wide out by Caldwell and C. Crabb were unsuccessful. After almost deflecting the fall into his own goal Clarke relieved with a powerful kick. Play swept dovvnfleld to the XVanderers’ goal but Fisher broke through to return play to the Rovers goalmouth where Farr was responsible for several brilliant saves. In the final minutes Wanderers made desperate efforts to pull the game out of the tire but poor shooting and sound defence on the part of Farr kept them from scoring. Mr E. R. Marsh was the referee.
