Otago gave tasle of their quality when Vosailagi, bidding the kick-off* ! burst through a weak tackle and flung Hie ball infield to the forwards. Fast, clean passing saxv seven Otago men handle in a brilliant rush. Desperate defence xvas needed lo prevent a try. Then Canterbury infringed right in front of their own goat. It xvas a fairly long kick but Bolton goaled xvell and within one minute of the start tlie score was:— Otago 3 Canterbury 0 Canterbury drove in to Otago territory with a line forward rush.
