LABOUR UNREST
700 STAY-IN STRIKERS. AT MELBOURNE GASWORKS. NO SIGN OF DISORDER. United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright. MELBOURNE, August 13. The 700 stay-in strikers at the West and South Melbourne gasworks are still in possession of the plan.ts, and no move has been made by the companies or the unions to settle the dispute. Food is being taken to the men by their wives and friends. There is no sign of disorder. From 50 to 60 per cent, of the usual gas supply is being maintained by the superintendents of the works, and the companies have at least 12 weeks’ supply of coal. The Trades Hall disputes committee is now making efforts to involve kindred unions In an extension of the trouble. THE COALFIELDS DISPUTE. SETTLEMENT TERMS RATIFIED. WORK RESUMED NEXT WEEK.
