PROPOSED FESTIVAL IN LONDON. NEW ZEALAND TO COMPETE. The proposal by the Earl of Bessborougli that an Empire Drama Festival be held in London is being warmly supported by the British amateur theatre movement. it is suggested that companies from Australia, New Zealand, Canada and South Africa should meet a selected British company, each to present a one-act play. Mr Geoffrey Whitworth, a director of the British Drama League which co-ordinates 2 SUU societies, has promised co-operation. Do has suggested that after the London competition, the Dominion companies should tour Britain. lie points out that New Zealand has a branch of tlie League and Australia has affiliated. Amateur organisations have expressed certainty that the matter will be taken up keenly.
