SHARP RISE IN BEEF.
DEMAND AT MORRINBVILLE. ALL CLASSES APPRECIATE. (By Telegraph.—Special Reporter.) MORRINSVILLE, Friday. A feature of the weekly Morrlnsvllle stock sale to-day was a sharp rise In values for beef, the prices being the best recorded since last spring. •Choice cows and heifers Improved by fully 20s per head, selling up to £l3 10s. A small entry of ox beef was In keen request at values representing a rise on last week. All classes improved as the result of a keen demand, secondary class cattle also being dearer. Dairy cattle were traded more readily and values showed an improvement. Brisk competition existed for fat sheep, the entry comprising for the most part good quality hoggets. All lines changed hands readily and values were fully firm. Well finished fat pigs were In short numbers and values agnin moved forward in the vendor’s favour. One pen of baconers sold at 975, the best price at the yards for some yearsPrime cows and heifers made £lO to £l3 10s; fat cows, £5 5s to £7 10s; fat wethers, 365; prime hoggets, 28s to 35s 6d; baconers, 60s to 975.
