OUTSTANDING SUCCESS.

NEW ZEALAND CRICKETERS BIR J. CAHN’B XI. BEATEN. FIRST TIME IN FIVE YEARS. (From the special correspondent of the' United Press Association with the team.) (Received Aug. 13, 3.15 p.m.) NOTTINGHAM, August 12. When the match between the New Zealand cricketers and Sir Julien Cahn’s Eleven concluded at Nottingham to-day, the visitors were victorious by nine-wickets. After making "80 in their first innings, the home team displayed slightly better form in the second innings, scoring 134. New Zealand were dismissed for 106 in their first outing and in their second lost one wicket for 111 runs. The New Zealanders’ success w’as really outstanding. It was the first time Sir Julien Cahn’s team had been beaten since its defeat five years ago, when touring South America. The New Zealand bowling was excellent, especially that of Roberts, who might easily have taken six or eight wickets, several snicks evading the fieldsmen. He performed the hat trick the first time on the tour, before lunch, for the first time in his career. He received the hall as a souvenir. Oowle Bowls Fast. Cowie bowled the fastest of all, and the batsmen played him defensively. There was nothing wrong with the wicket and it was a performance of great merit to dismiss such a strong side so cheaply twice. New Zealand comfortably scored the runs required, although the bowling was of an average county strength. Tindill gave what was probably his best display of the tour, making clear,

strong strokes all round the wicket. Carson punished anything short with great severity. Scores; SIR J. CAHN’S XI. First Innings j 80 Se'cond Innings.
