There was ample water but no pumping appliances. The Wanganui brigade sent two men out with an engine and saved half Ihe w orks and also the permanent way and power lines. Considerable damage was done to machinery. The insurance is not available. The new plant recently ordered has not arrived yet but it is expected the works will restart shortly.
