The total value of building operations for which permits were issued in the larger towns in June was £540,655, a decrease of £00,790 as compared with the total in the previous month (£601,445), states the abstract of statistics. Included in the permits issued in June were permits for the erection of 323 private dwellings , as compared With 354 In Mnv—a decrease of 31. The statistics of building permits include particulars of new buildings and major alterations and additions commenced by the Government Departments and Education Boards, although permits mav not actually be Issued.
