GRAHAMLAND EXPEDITION NEW TERRITORY EXPLORED. RETURN OF BRITISH PARTY. (Omclal Wireless.) (Received August 12, 1 p.m.) RUGBY, August 11. After 2i years in the Western Antarctic, members of the British Grahamland expedition reached Portsmouth in the auxiliary schooner Penola. It was the first British national enterprise to winter In the Antarctic for about 20 years. The members explored about 1000 miles of new territory, making reconnaisance flights in their aeroplane and following these by sledge journeys, for which the expedition had taken about 90 Greenland dogs. Grahamland, it found, is not a collection of islands, as had hitherto been believed, but Is a definite part of the Antarctic Continent.
