WAIKATO CHAMPIONSHIPS AUSPICIOUS OPENING MADE. FEW SURPRISES IN EARLY GAMES. Exceptionally fine entries and a high standard of play combined to make an auspicious opening for the Waikato badminton championships, which commenced in the Bledisloe Hall last evening. The first round of play produced few surprises, although in the A grade Collins surprised with a well merited win over Wright. Both H. FoW and A. Dempster (the titleholder) won their matches without being seriously extended. Results were: A Grade Championships.
