WOMEN'S FASHIONS
BACK TO LONG SKIRTS. VICTORIAN TRENDB REVIVED. EFFECT OF KINO'S VIEWS. United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright. LONDON, August li. The King’s views on women's fashions are deciding many autumn trends. His Majesty likes full skirts, rounded neck-lines and high-waisted effects of the nineteenth century. As a tribute to the King, fashion dictators intend to revive Victorian trends. The off-shoulder line of a century ago will reappear at autumn functions, as will full-draped skirt and sleeve treatments. French designers are reviving styles of the past. Evening frocks with trains a yard long were seen at the first autumn show in Paris. Day skirts are long. Red and green are the outstanding day colours. The fashion-s are a mixture of Napoleonic and Edwardian with touches of Scottish. There are some beautiful plaid velvets, and many day skirts are kilted.
