The annual report of the Commonwealth Grants Commission shows that the net losses on the public debts of the States for the past financial year, after debiting interest, sinking fund and exchange, and crediting earnings, were £17,718,000. The individual amounts were:— £ New South Wales .... 5,586,000 Queensland 3,658,000 Victoria 3,012,000 South Australia <«.... 2,517,000 Western Australia .... 1,942,000 Tasmania 1,003,000
