WOUNDS IN HEAD
RABBITER FOUND SHOT. INCIDENT AT TE AWAMUTU. STATEMENT BY WIFE. With severe gunshot wounds In his forehead, which, has resulted In paralysis of the right arm, a rabblter, Walter Smith (23), of Te Pahu Road, Plrongla, was discovered in the main street of Te Awamutu and after two days In a private hospital in that town ho has been admitted to the Waikato Hospital In a serious condition. Smith had gone to Te Awamutu In the morning driving his truck and accompanied by his wife. He had a rifle In his truck which was part of his rabbiting equipment. Shortly after 4 o’clook In the after-' noon Smith and his wife met to go home and In a statement to the police Mrs Smith said that an altercation had oc-cured between them. She saw her husband sit in the driver’s seat of the lorry and later saw the rifle discharge. The injured man was attended by Constables Forsythe and Geraldine, of Te Awamutu and was taken to a private hospital where he was examined by Dr. L. S. Rogers. After two days in the hospital the doctor decided to send the patient to the Waikato Hospital for It was feared that a bullet was still lodged in the man’s head-
