COMBINED HUNT MEETING. ENTRIES CLOSE AUGUST 16. The Taranaki Hunt Club and the Egmont Hunt 'Club will hold their fourth combined race meeting at New Plymouth on Thursday andi Saturday, September 2 and 4. There are seven events each day and with the attractive stakes on offer, the fixture looks like being an outstanding success. The chief events are the EgmontWanganui Hunt Cup Steeplechase, and Taranaki Hunt Club Cup Steeplechase each being decided over about 2$ miles, and are restricted to qualified hunters. The first day’s proceedings open with the Trial Hunters’ Steeplechase, £100; about 2 miles, and the second day’s with the Hack and Hunters’ Hurdles, £110; 1J miles and 100 yards. There are handsome trophies attached to each of the jumping events. The ladles’ Bracelet and Ladies’ Necklace are eacli decided over a mile and a-quarter and are for gentlemen riders, the minimum weight being lOst. 7lbs. There are two open races, the Waihau Handicap, £125; 6 furlongs, and Stratford Handicap, £125; about 7 furlongs, and there are also a number of well-endowed hack events. If there is sufficient inducement, a two-year-old parade will be held on the second day. Nominations close with Mr C. B Webster, New Plymouth, on Monday, August 16. at ‘9 p.m., and with Mr J. C. Gray, Wavcrley, at 8 p.m. the same
