AMERICAN CONTROL SOUGHT. OPINION OF AN EXPERT. United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright LOS ANGELES, Aug. 8. Mr. Eric Chaseling, who has been engaged for a technical survey of Australian air lines, told a representative of the Australian Associated Press today that he believed the reported (and, later denied) attempt' by PanAmerican Airways to control Australian air routes would, not succeed. The American syndicate was represented in Australia by Mr. Seth Terry, a Denver mining man. It was rumoured that the Americans proposed to buy the majority of the stock in Australian air lines, including Qantas Empire, Australian National, MacßobertsonMiller, and the New Guinea Airways, and to merge them into a single company.
