LOCAL OBSERVATIONS. The following local observations on the weather are supplied by Miss Budd, of Messrs Balfour; Irvine and Webster, Limited, Hamilton: Barometer. Monday 30.25 Tuesday 30.35 Thermometer. Max. * Min. Sunday 57 43 Monday 56 36 Mean Temperature, 46 deg. The barometer reads 30.35 and has a rising tendency. Indications are for fair weather to-day and to-morrow, with seasonable temperature and south-west winds prevailing. The Rainfall. Rainfall for 24 hours ended 9 o’clock this morning. .OOin. Rainfall for previous 48 hours, .02in. Rainfall for August to date, .75in. Average rainfall for August, 3.96in. Rainfall for year to date, 28.27in. Average yearly rainfall, 46 32in. SPECIAL FORECAST. (By Govt. Meteorologist). The special forecast by the Government Meteorologist covering the WaikatoThames Valley is as follows: , Forecast: Light to moderate and variable winds, with southerly predominating. Weather fair to fine and milder, but some frosts inland. Seas slight to moderate. General Inference: An intense anti-cyclone is now centred over the east central portion of the Tasman Sea and envelopes the Dominion.
