ORDERS IN UNITED STATES. NEW BATTLESHIPS MOOTED. United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright (Received August 9, 11.30 a.m.) NEW YORK, August 8. The New York Times states that a Russian Commission is seeking to arrange for the construction of battleships in tiie United States and to overcome official objections, and is negotiating for a 35,000-ton ship armed with nine 16-inch guns, as a preliminary to purchasing three similar ves sels at a cost of from 100,000,000 to 200,000,000 dollars. The commission is studying American methods of manufacturing guns and armour plate, apd has invited American technicians to assist in establishing plants in Russia.
