LOCAL OBSERVATIONS. The following local observations on the weather are supplied by Miss Budd, of Messrs Balfour, Irvine and Webster, Limited, Hamilton: Barometer. Monday 30.25 Thermometer. Max. Min. Sunday 57 43 Mean Temperature, 50 deg. The barometer reads 30.25 with a rising tendency, indications are for partly fair and partly cloudy weather today and to-morrow, with lower temperature and northerly winds prevailing. The Rainfall. Rainfall for 48 hours ended 9 o’clock this morning, .021 n. Rainfall for previous 24 hours, .iOin. Rainfall for August to date, .75in. Average rainfall for August, 3.96in. Rainfall for year to date, 28.27in. Average yearly rainfall, 46.32in. SPECIAL FORECAST. (By Govt. Meteorologist). The special forecast by the Government Meteorologist covering the WaikatoThames Valley Is as follows: Forecast: Light to moderate south-westerly winds. Weather fine with cold night, but mild day temperatures. Seas slight to moderate. General Inference: A fairly intense anti-cyclone covers the Tasman Sea and extends over the Dominion.
