POULTRY, BUTTER AND EGGS. TIIE AUCKLAND MARKETS. AUCKLAND, Saturday. Poultry was in short supply at the oity markets, and the demand was very keen. The prices paid showed a sharp increase all round. Hen eggs again dropped a penny a dozen on Thursday. Values were:— Poultry.—Cockerels, heavy breeds, prime, 5s to 8s; not prime. 3s to ss; light breeds, prime, 3s fo ss; not prime, 2s lo 4s; fat roosters, heavy breeds, prime, 3s io ss; light breeds, 3s to 4s: fat hens, heavy breeds, is fo Gs; light breeds, 3s (o ss; pullets, heavy breeds, best. 3s to -fis: smaller. 3s up; light breeds, best, 3s to is Gd; smaller. 2s to 3s: drakes, young prime. 2s 6d to 3s 6d; smaller, 2s up: old. 2s fo 3s fid: ducks, young. 2s Gd to 3s Gd; old, 2s to 3s: geese, -is to ss: I turkey liens, Gs to 8s; gobblers. Us' to 17s; day-old chicks, Black Orping-' ton. 3d lo sd: Leghorn. 2d lo id. 1 Butter and Eggs.—Eggs, lien, Aj grade, is S.Jd per dozen; B grade, is 74d: G grade, ts 5Ad: duck, A grade. Is B*d: B grade, is 7Jd; C grade, is 54d. Farmers’ butter, is to is 2d per lb.
