KING & McCAW, Solicitors, 170 Hamilton. >UBLIC SERVICE EXAMINATIONS FOR SHORTHAND-WRITERS AND TYPISTS. NOVEMBER, 1937. It is hereby notified that the usual Junior and Senior Publio Service Entrance Examinations for Shorthandtypists will be held on the 13th November. In addition it is proposed to hold the following examinations in the four main centres on the 27th November:— Intermediate Examination.—Shorthand, 130 words a minute; typewriting 50 words a minute. Special Examination. —Shorthand, 150 words a minute; typewriting, 50 words a minute. If sufficient candidates offer, an examination for the purposes of the Shorthand Reporters’ Aot, 1908, will also be conducted in conjunction with the Intermediate and Special Examinations. This examination requires a speed of from 150 to 180 words a minute in Shorthand, with not more than i per cent of error in transcript. The fee for this examination is £2/2/-, and applications must also be accompanied by evidence that applicant has attained the age of 21 years, and at least two testimonials as to character. Applications close on 13th Ootober, 1937, but late .applications will be received up to 27th Ootober if aooompanied by a late fee of 2/6 in addition to the usual entrance fee of 5/- for the Junior and 10/- for the Senior examination; and a late fee of 5/- in addition to the usual entrance fee of 15/- for the Intermediate and £1 for the Special Examination.
