Essay Competition. St. George's New Organ. £4 to be Won. CUT THIS ESSAY OUT AND REFER TO FULL PARTICULARS ON PAGE 24. As parishes even in a new country like New Zealand, St. George’s must be considered of recent growth. There was Sunday School Frankton 1905 and first Church hall was built in 1907, the first being by the then Vicar of Hamilton on November 24th, 1907. On February 10th, 1915 the first Church of St. George was dedicated by Archbishop Averill and this served the until late in 1923. Frankton was made a parochial district in year and it was that the Church was not enough to serve the of rapidly growing township so the Church was and was dedicated on May 4th, 1924. This Church is a Church complete with lady chapel, is furnished and thoroughly the praise meted out by the present Bishop of Wellington, Bishop Holland, who, after being around it was one of the wooden churches he had in New Zealand. For 30 years the music to the choir and congregation has been by an American organ or harmonium. However, ever since the new St. George’s was built there have dreams about a pipe organ, but there seemed hope of these dreams being realised because of a debt on the parish. Parishioners and others, nevertheless, that they would all possible to reduce this debt and it was that by the holding of a large number of social functions and by both and “Bring and Buy” afternoons at which many of the goods were and by numerous other methods it has been found that, in years this debt has been reduced so that the Vestry thought the was opportune to go ahead and work for new organ. This new and pipe organ is built by Mr. F. W. Hardingham, of Hamilton, at a of £6OO and be installed in St. George’s Easter, 1935. It a two-manual organ equipped with the devices and and be instrument of which parishioners and others be justly and which will meet the of St. George’s Church for many years to come. St. George’s Church a pipe organ and upon its installation next year the worshippers will then feel that the Church is completely equipped to the stately worship of the ancient church of which it is a part.
