The Daily Telegraph understands that orders are being placed early in September with British firms for twin 22,000-ton ships, capable of a speed of 20 knots, for the Pacific service. The total cost, approximately £3,000,000, will be covered by a loan, of which the British Government will subscribe half, the balance being jointly contributed by Canada, Australia and New Zealand;. The liners will be definitely superior in size and speed to American vessels.
