WAR DEBTS.
MANY RUMOURS OIROULATED. STABILISATION OF CURRENCY. United Press Assn, —Elec. Tel. Copyright. WASHINGTON, August 5. A wide variety of rumours, all denied by the State Department, and all attached to the Anglo-American negotiations for a reciprocal trade treaty, are in circulation in Washington. The most circumstantial Is that Britain has agreed to make an immediate payment of 600,000,000 dollars on account of her war debt and no further payment for 10 years. Then would follow the payment of one and one-half per cent, of the •principal over 60 years, with tho balance virtually subject to compromise, and no further interest payments. Ollier aspects of the scheme are said to involve a common currency stabilisation plan and a reduction in the price of gold.
