TRANSFER CANCELLED.
FRANKTON POLICE CONSTABLE. NO HOUSE AVAILABLE. After many attempts to acquire a house at Kaltala, where he was transferred some weeks ago, Constable A. Packer, of the Frankton Junction police station, has received notification that the transfer has been cancelled owing to the lack of accommodation in the North Auckland town and he returned this week to resume duties In Frankton. . A decision was made recently by the Police Department to Increase the strength of the Kaltala station, the proposal being to have a sergeant and two constables stationed there. Constable Packer, who Is married, was selected to augment the staff. The constable received notification of his transfer some two months ago and since then he has made repeated visits to the north seeking a house for himself and his family. This week he returned to Frankton after a further month at Kaitaia looking in vain for a house. The Police Department has decided to send a single man to the northern station.
