Kempthorne, former Bishop of Lichfield, will arrive In Auckland from Suva on August 23. After spending several days in Auckland he will leave for Wellington. Mr. G. P. Harington, of Eureka, will leave Auckland to-day by the Awatea for Sydney. He will spend a month In Australia. , The British Ambassador-designate to Japan, Sir Robert Craigie, and Lady Craigie sailed from England for j Canada and the' United States yesterday on the way to Tokio. Mr Charles MacDermott has been appointed New Zealand representative of Messrs A. J. Mills and Company, Limited, London, In succession to Mr G. A. Mills, who recently left to take charge of the company’s New York office. According to a Gazette last night., the following have been appointed members of the Council of Legal Education: —Sir Michael Myers and. Mr. Justice H. 11. Ostler, representing the Chief Justice of New Zealand; Messrs. P. Levi and A. H. Johnstone, representing the council of the New Zealand Law Society; Professor J. Adamson and Professor R. MacMillan, representing the University Senate. Messrs J. Kendall (Keri Iverl), K. Emden (Palmerston), R. W. Lewis (Hastings), H. Fell (Dunedin), H. I. Murphy, P. W. Smith (Palmerston North), J. Ilenery (New Plymouth), D. McLeod, J. U. Miller (Masterton), J. C. Lewis, W. S. Trotter, H. W. Clarke (Wellington), R. Colebrook, R.. Gray, A. Peachey, J. Grey and G. Andrews (Auckland) are at the Hamilton Hotel.
