NATIONAL COUNCIL.
HAMILTON BRANCH. The monthly meeting of the Hamilton branch of the National Council of Women was held in the Lyceum Club on Tuesday, the president, Dr. de la Mare, presiding. The president welcomed Mrs A. Minchin as a new associate member. Dominion Conference. —It was decided to send two delegates to the annual conference, which will open in Auckland on September 29. Dr. de la Mare and Mrs P. Snell will represent the Hamilton branch at this conference. Committee of Inquiry into Maternity Services in New Zealand. —The president stated that this committee would be sitting in Hamilton on September 16, and asked for the names of those who were willing to give evidence at this meeting. Scotland’s Empire Exhibition. —A letter was read from the organising secretary of the women’s section of the Empire Exhibition, expressing the hope that they would have the pleasure of welcoming members of the Council at this Exhibition, which will be held in Bellahouston Park, Glasgow, in 1938. A special feature of the exhibition will be the exhibits In the women’s pavilion, and these exhibits will be drawn from Great Britain and the Empire—exhibits of interest to women and •children from the educational, public health and recreational points of view, and also arts and crafts. The president read to the meeting a copy of an Interesting address delivered by Mrs B. L. Dallard to the Wellington branch of the National Council of Women on “Domestic Relations.’’ This address was of special Interest to branches as a remit on the subject will toe coming before the conference next month. At the conclusion of the general business the meeting closed. The next meeting of the branch will be held on September 7 at the Lyceum Club.
