PRICES STEADY.
HAMILTON PRODUCE. GRAPEFRUIT OBTAINABLE. SHARP RISE FOR PUMPKINS. There is little change in prices for produce on the Hamilton market, prices being on a par with late rates. All varieties are coming forward In good supply, while several new lines are selling. Grapefruit and pineapples have been in demand during the week, the former selling from 8s 6d to 9s 6d and the latter from 16s to 18s per case, while Granny Smith apples are in very short supply. Other fruit varieties, which have altered in price, are first grade lemons, which' have dropped from 18s to 22s Cd, to 16s to 18s. Others are selling from 8s to 14s. Australian mandarins arc now off the -market. On the vegetable market cauliflowers have drppped slightly to 5s 6d to 6s per bag, while New Zealand kumaras are fetching 5s Gd to 7s a sugar bag instead of 6s Gd to 8s Gd. Fijian varieties are now on the market and are making ty-om 20s to 22s per cwt. There is a suhstantal rise in rates for Pukekohe pumpkins, which are selling from 20s to 24s per cwt., a rise of four shillings. Quotations: — Apples.—Delicious, ex cooler, 5s to 8s 9d; Wincsap, 7s to 9s; Ballarat, 8s Gd to 9s; oranges, Australian 18s to 245; lemons, first grade 16s to 18s, others 8s to 14s; bananas, ripe and turning 20s lo 245, others 16s to 20s; pears, Winter Nells 12s to 13s, Winter Coles 13s to 15s, cooking 8s to 9s; marmalade oranges, choice 8s to 9s 6d, others 5s to 8s a case; grapefruit, 8s Gd to 9s Gd; tree tomatoes, 7s to Bs, others 5s to 7s. Vegetables.—Pukekohe savoy, 2s Gd to 3s 6d a bag; drumhead 4s to 5s a bag, sacks 7s Gd to 8s Gd; cauliflowers 5s Gd to 6s, sacks Gs Gd to 7s Gd; South Island potatoes £lO -to £lO 10s a ton: lettuce, 5s to 8s Gd a banana case; New Zealand kumeras 5s Gd to 7s, Fiji do. 20s to 22s per cwt; swedes, 2s Gd lo 3s a sugar bag; spinach, is Gd a dozen bunches; carrots, parsnips and leeks, is 3d to Is Gd; -heel. lOd to is; pumpkins, Pukekohe Ist grade 20s to 24s a cwt. others 16s to 20s cwt; onions, 18s to 20s cwt; celery, choice, 3s lo 3s Gd a bundle, others Is Gd. Eggs and rish. Eggs are forward in good supply and have dropped Gd a dozen, the rate of 2s ruling this week, while the wholesale price is Is Bd. A further drop Is expected next week. Again fish is scarce on the local market owing to the unsettled conditions. Deep sea variel'es, especially hapwka. are in short supply. Oysters from Coromandel are no longer on the market, wh'le other kinds will finish to-day. Whitebait is almost unobtainable. and is likely to remain so until the weather improves.
