KAIRANGI SERVICE URGED. TE MIRO RETICULATION. (Special to Times.) CAMBRIDGE, Thursday. The monthly meeUag of the Cambridge Power Board was h id last evening- when there were present, Messrs M. Wells (chairman), J. W. Garland, R. Fisher, J. T. Entwlslo, W. Moore and J. H. Brock. The secretary-managor (Mr F. M. Oliver) and engineer (Mr H : C. Oaten) were In attendance. The Auckland Provincial Employers' Association advised that: the Local Authorities Officers’ Industrial Award had been settled and came Into force as rrom August 2. The secretary stated that In accordance with the new award there would be no clerical work on Saturday mornings. The chairman thought the board’s omce should be kept open on Saturday mornings. The secretary said there was a good deal of business on Saturday mornings and It would betn-*«rder Tor the engineer and hlmseir to sS£.fh attendance. It was agreed -abet the etnee be kept open. ..... ,The Power Board’s Assor'atlon advised that the annual conference will be held at a later date and requesting any remits to be forwarded by August i 4. It was decided once again to urge that bulk supply charges be reduced. Dominion Award. The Frankton Board forwarded a copy or a remit relative to a Dominion award for power supply authorities. It was pointed out that In ti e past various awards had been made in uirrerent parts or the Dominion; concessions * had been granted and the cumulative ilTect was not in the best interests or the supply authorities as a whole. The mattewas referred to the Board’s delegates. The board’s balance-sheet was received rrom the auditors without a tag. The secretnry advised that application had been made to the Loans Board for sanction Tor a loan or £IO,OOO ror development works. Service for Kalrangl. The engineer reported that a request had heen made ror a supply service to the Kalrangl (Bryant) Settlement. Mr Oaten said he and Mr Oliver had visited the settlement and investigated The matter. Besides several large rarms yet to be worked there were 14 small settled holdings. The capital cost to provide a service line would be about £IOOO. The board would need some guarantee that such an Installation would be a reasonably payable proposition. The chairman said they sihould get busy and endeavour to make some arrangement with the settlement authorities. This being forthcoming, the board could proceed with the work at the earliest opportunity. A resolution to this afreet was carried. It was also agreed that the chairman and Messrs Brock and Garland meet the Waikato Land Settlement Society. Te Mlro Arrangement*. The matter or the reticulation of the Te Mlro district was discussed. The secretary said he had been Informed from the Thames Valley Board, that the wofk was not likely to be started for some time. It was suggested that the Thames Valley Board provide the materials and that the Cambridge Board do the work. It was decided to suggest that the Thames Valley Board find the finance Tor reticulation through the Loans Board. The chairman said it seemed that the Cambridge Board would have to approach the Thames Valley Board If a move were to be made. It was agreed that Messrs Wells, Moore and Garland wait on the Thames Valley Board.
