COMEDIAN’S ROMANCE.
A RUNAWAY MARRIAGE. BRIDE ARRIVES ON AWATEA. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, Tuesday. Married against the wishes of her parents on the night before her husband: left Sydney for Auckland, Miss Jean McEvoy decided to follow toy a later vessel. She arrived on the Awatea to-day and was met by her husband, Mr. “ Chic ” Arnold , a comedian in Frank Nell’s Revue Company now playing in Auckland. “ It was a runaway marriage,” said Mrs. Arnold to an Interviewer. She was president of the St. Vincent’s Hospital Younger Set Committee and met Mr. Arnold at a social function at which he was assisting to raise funds for the hospital. They quarrelled' but met again a few weeks later and became friendly. She was in Brisbane while the company was playing there. “ We were out fishing in Brisbane when we decided to marry,” said Mr. Arnold. “ I literally caught my bride on the fishing line.” Both are enthusiastically looking forward to a tour of New Zealand and subsequent life together.
