Sued by a customer whose face was cut In shaving, a native barber pleaded that he had told a story so humorous that the customer rocked with laughter and was cut. In dismissing the claim, the magistrate said it was a time-worn practice for barbers to tell witty stories to mitigate the customers’ ordeal. If anyone was blameworthy it was the claimant for not restraining his laughter.
