STEPS FOR CONSOLIDATION
ANGLO-ITALIAN RELATIONS. DIGNIFIED PRESS GOMMEXT. United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright. (Reoelved Aug. 4, 12.20 p.m.) LONDON, Aug. 3. It Is difficult to understand the reference In the official wireless message to the British press and the AngloItalian exchange reports, which have reaohed London from the usual responsible sources. Editorial 'comment was dignified and restrained. No paper assumed more than the preliminary compliments between Mr Chamberlain and Signor Mussolini, which they hoped would lead to a better understanding. Only one message from a news agency, purporting to give the contents of II Duce’s letter, seemed wide of the mark, and was not published generally. A message from Rome says the press considers that the exchange of letters between Mr Chamberlain and Signor Mussolini is likely to be followed by definite steps for consolidating Anglo-Italian relations.
