LOCAL OBSERVATIONS. The following local observations on -the weather are supplied by Miss Biudd, of Messrs Balfour, Irvine and Webster, Limited, Hamilton: Barometer. Tuesday 30.00 Wednesday 29.90 Thermometer. Max. Min. Monday 50 46 Tuesday 57 54 Mean Temperature, 55.5 deg. The barometer reads 29.90 and has very little movement. Partly fair and partly cloudy weather Is indicated to-day and to-morrow with mild temperatures, scattered rain and north-westerly winds prevailing. The Rainfall. Rainfall for 24 hours ended 9 o’clock this morning, .56in. Rainfall for previous 24 hours, .00in. Rainfall for August to date, .59in. Average rainfall for August, 3.96in. Rainfall for year to date, 28.1 lin. Average yearly rainfall, 46.32ih. SPECIAL FORECAST. (By Govt. Meteorologist). The special forecast by the Government Meteorologist covering the WalkatoThemes Valley fa as follows: Forecast: Moderate to strong south-westerly winds decreasing gradually. Weather cool and changeable, with occasional showers. Seas moderate to rathe* rough and increasing at times. General Inference: Yesterday’s depression has passed eastwards off the Dominion and barometers have' risen somewhat. An Intense antioyclona is advancing across Southern Australia, but a number of secondary depressions is still apparently moving over the south Tasman Sea.
