WEDDINGS.

PRESTON —COULSTON. The marriage was solemnised at St. Peter’s Cathedral, Hamilton, on the afternoon of June 19 between Gwendoline Maida, youngest daughter of Mr and Mrs R. H. Coulston, of Claudelands, and James Henry, youngest son of Mr and Mrs J. Preston, of Gisborne. The Very Rev. Dean T. P. Weatherhog performed the ceremony. The church had been very prettily arranged with flowers and greenery by friends of the bride.

The hride, who entered the church with her father, wore a beautiful gown of slipper satin cut on classical lines with high neokline, finished with ruohing from neck to waist, and olose-flttlng sleeves finished in a point over the hands. She wore a beautiful veil over the face, and carried a sheaf of chrysanthemums, lilies and maidenhair fern.

The Misses Ella ‘Hardie, of Rotorua, and Mavis Coulston (niece of the

bride), were the bridesmaids and wore frocks of pale pink georgette fashioned with pleated flounces and finished with silver sprays. Their hats were of silver leaves with pink tulle veils falling over the face, and they carried bouquets of pink roses and maidenhair fern. Mr Hugh Coulston (brother of the bride) was best man, and Mr Richard Coulston was groomsman. Following the ceremony a reception, was held at the Wattle Rooms, which looked most attractive with bowls of Iceland popples. Mrs Coulston received the guests wearing a navy tailored costume, navy hat and fur stole, and carried a posy of violets and maidenhair fern. Mr and Mrs J. H. Preston left by car for the honeymoon, the bride

Te Kinti's first Band wedding was solemnised at St. Andrew's PresbyjtftarWan ChurJch between a

popular young (bandsman, George Alexander, eldest son of Mrs. C. Pulford and the late Mr. A. Knox, of Te Kuitl, and Olga May, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Allsworth, of Ongarue. The Rev. W. T. Brabyn ofllciated at the ceremony. The bride, who entered the church with her father, wore a beautiful frock of ivory satin cut on classic lines, and a veil of Brussels net surmounted by a coronet of orange blossoms. She carried a bouquet of artificial flowers The bridesmaids were Miss Betty Knox (sister of the bridegroom) who was frocked in lemon embossed crepe, and Miss Frances Pulford (sister of the bridegroom) who wore a frock of deep blue embossed crepe. Both the bridesmaids carried muffs to tone. Mr. Norman Robertson, of Hamilton. was the best man, and Mr. Fred Tubman, of Te Kniti, the groomsman. The Band played selections as the bride and bridegroom entered the vestry to sign the register, and then, as the bridal couple left the church, formed a guard of honour, their instruments forming an arch over their heads. With the bridal car in the centre, the Band played selections as it marched on Its way to the Municipal

Hall, where the reception was held. The mothers of the bride and bridegroom received the quests, Mrs Alls- I worth wearing a floral frock of crepe . de chine with a beige hat, and Mrs. Pulford a frock of black and white j floral marocain, and black picture hat. I The tables at, the reception had | been beautifully decorated by the i Ladies’ Committee of Hie Band, and the | lovely wedding cake, had been made ] by Mr. Tinklin. At the reception Mr. W. Swift presented a beautiful eiderdown to the bride and bridegroom from the Band and Ladies’ Committee. After the reception Mr. and Mrs. Ci. A. Knox left, by ear for Ihe North. Her bouquet was in pink and lavender tonlngs. The two tiny bridesmaids, Janet and Helen Smyth (nieces of the bride . wore ankle-length frocks of pink embossed georgette with pink Juliet caps, and carried pink and lavender Viotorian posies. Mr Neil McLean, of Te Kawa. was best man. At the reception held in the Domain Kiosk, the guests were received by Ihe bride’s mother, who wore a green tunic frock with hat and accessories to lone, and -carried a bouquet of violets. She was assisted by the bridegroom’s mother, who wore a navy en Kemble with navy peachblno'in hat and accessories lo tone, and carried a bouquet in autumn tints. During Hie breakfast two solos wore given by Miss .lean McLeod and Miss Shona Paterson, and were much enjoyed.
