THAMES VALLEY SUPPLY. QUARTERLY FINANCIAL STATEMENT. (Special to Times.) TE AROIIA, Wednesday. Mr J. Price presided at the monthly meeting- or the Thames Valley Electric Power Board yesterday, Messrs C. A. Arthur. II M. Corbett, J. M. Allen, J. \V. Anderson, J. F. Mayn, J. McCormick, J. Fonlen, J. Barrett, F. E. Flatt, the manager, Mr R. Sprague and engineer Mr IS. G. McLeod, also being present. A letter was read rrom the Treasury statlng the board's proposals could be given effect to as regards'new guarantees, but It was not possible under existing legislation to vary previous agreements. £IO,OOO Loan. The Treasury notified that the application for the £IO,OOO loan was now before the Loans Board. A communication was received from the Ministry of Housing stating that the dwojlings to be erected in Te Aroha would be wired for electric supply, and It was suggested that the supply authorities be requested to make i. rogress inspections to see that the materia l and work complied with the regulations. The department proposed to appoint an electrical inspector who would travel through tho Dominion collaborating with the local authority Inspectors. The manager submitted the statement of finance lor the quarter ended June 30, showing revenue £37,6i52 18s and expenditure. £37,274 os Gd, leaving a credit of £4OB Ss 6d. The manager’s report stated that notwithstanding the reductions that had been In opcreturn lor two months of the quarter t-he increase in electricity sales amounted to £2505 6s 7d, the main Increases being domestic power £ 1070 is Bd, farm motors £1231 15s lOd, water heaters £544 16s tod and Industrial £344 17s 3d. With regard to the lighting revenue decrease of £B2S is 7d this was wholly due to the reductions In charges given early this year. Under the heading or expenditure the principal increase is power purchases £849 5s 6d. This is to be expected when the large increase or revenue is taken into consideration. The total number or consumers now connected to the board’s mains was 10,580. Extension of Premises. The engineer reported that In the Paeroa district a considerable amount or labour had been Involved In clearing up raults caused during the violent thunderstorms on July 14 and 15. The 11.000 volt extension at Hoe-o-talnui has been completely poled and supply should be available within two weeks. In the Matamata district supply will be made available to Waotu within two weeks, in respect to the general area the month had been a very busy one in all departments and there had been a heavy demand for house and shed installations. The financial statement and reports were adopted. The recommendations or the finance committee that the board’s premises be extended and that an architect be engaged to prepare plans and estimates, was adopted.
