SPRINGBOKS’ SUGGESTION. HAMILTON UNION AFFAIRS. ARRANGEMENTS FOR SATURDAY. Acting upon the suggestion of ths captain of the touring Springbol footballers, P. J. Nel. that kikuzu grass should be experimented with at Rugby Park to improve the playing surface of the ground, the management committee of the Hamilton Rugby Union decided to refer the matter to the grounds committee for investigation. A report will be prepared on the committee's findings. The matter was dealt with at the meeting last evening. Mr A. E. Gibbons presided. Several other suggestions for Improvements to Rugby Park were brought forward, but consideration was deferred until accounts in connection with the Springboks match were settled. However, it was decided that fences and buildings damaged on the occasion of the international match should be repaired immediately. Manlapoto Application. An application from the Manlapoto \ sub-union for a match with the Hamitton fifteen at Te Kuitl on August ‘2l was referred to the match committee. A grant of £5 was made to the Hamilton Primary Schools Rugby Union to enable their representative team to take part in the Vancouver Cup contest at Pukekohe. The second Medium Battery was granted the use of a ground on any Saturday after September 4 for a match with a team from the Auckland Artillery. Fixtures for Saturday.
