Mala’s first outing as a four-year-old at Victoria Park Bank Holiday races to-day was marked by a narrow victory in the Tellers’ Flying Handicap from Buzalong and Silver Standard. Deputy Ruler, who was the pacemaker, was a creditable fourth, and Royal Helena ran unplaoed. Red Clover met interference in the Novice Handicap, which ruined her chance. Sir Regent (Chief Ruler — Irish Lyric) was third to Black Laughter and Lord Sun in the Welter Handicap, and paid a good place dividend on the totalisator. Speardale won the Bank ‘Holiday Handicap.
