SPREADING GOSPEL.

BIBLE SOCIETY WORK. MELVILLE SUB-BRANCH. The annual meeting of the Melville sub-branch of the British and Foreign Bible Society was held in the Presbyterian Church recently. The Rev. R. J. Boyt opened the meeting with devotional exercises, and also paid a tribute to the work of the society in its international and interdenominational activities. He spoke in complimentary terms of the enthusiastic and devoted work of Miss D. Henry, through whose efforts, together with the many collectors, whose services she haa enlisted, there had been a marked increase of interest in the work of the sooiety. After an inspiring devotional address, Miss Henry spoke at length upon the many departments of the Bible Society work in the translation of Hie Scriptures into many languages, and the devoted labours of the agents in many lands. By the use of several striking diagrams, stress was laid upon the urgent need of more extensive effort. Mrs Burrows was elected president for the coming year, with Mrs Gonder as vice-president and Miss Hamilton secretary.
