DUKE OF WINDSOR.
MAY BECOME A MILLIONAIRE. VALUABLE CANADIAN RANCH. INDICATIONS OF OIL. United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright (Received August 2, 11.50 a.m.) LONDON, August 1. The newspaper People draws attention to a report by an official of the Canadian Government Mines Department stating that an oil survey has revealed that the most likely locations are on the E.P. ranch. This ranch belongs to the Duke of Windsor, who, says the People, may become an oil multimillionaire. CAR COLLIDES WITH TRAM. AUTHOR’S SUGGESTION DENIED. Unt'ed Press Assn. —Elec. Tel. Copyright. LONDON, August 1. The car in which the Duke and Duches-s of Windsor were travelling collided with a tram in Salzburg, Austria, to-day, and one of its mudguards was damaged, but the Duke and Duchess were able to continue their journey. They were cheered by citizens. The Lord Provost of Aberdeen, Mr Edward Watt, denies the suggestion in Mr Geoffrey Dennis’ book, “ Coronation Commentary," that at the last moment the Duke of Windsor sent the Duke and Duchess of York to open the Aberdeen Infirmary, while he drove from Balmoral to meet a “ gay party of transatlantics.” The Lord Provost said he had been told months earlier that the Duke of Windsor would not perform the ceremony, owing to Court mourning, but was so interested that he would depute the Duke of York. "Mrs Simpson was arriving at Aberdeen the same day,” he said, " a mere coincidence.”
