MAORI BOY’S DEATH.

MOTHER’S VAIN EFFORT. (Special to Times.) KAWHIA, Monday. Mrs Daphne Tuauplki, a young Maori woman, living at Taharoa, was bringing her 14 months’ old son into Kawhia on Saturday for medical attention. The track Is very rough and the 20 mile trip arduous, and before the"mother reached Te Maiki the boy, who had been ill two days, died in his molher’s arms. Taharoa is inhabited by some 250 natives and this is the third death recently recorded of deaths' resulting while relatives have been seeking medical aid. Representations for better communication with the settlement have so far proved unsuccessful.
