HAMILTON DEFEATED.

WAIPA A SUCCESSFUL. (Special to Times.) TE AWAMUTU, Sunday. ' Two teams from Hamilton visited Te Avvamutu to play the looal Waipa teams in friendly matches on Saturday and in each case the local side emerged the victors in the A games by 3 goals to 2 and the B game by 6 goals to 1. The teams in the main game were:—Hamilton: H. Sutherland, C. Clark, F. Boyd, A. Jenkins, C. Bones, K. Snell, T. Oddy, D. Hunter, J. G. West, 0. McKibben and K. Wycherley. Waipa: F. Battson, R. Hinton, R. Spiers, N. Spiers, R. Burns, D. Hanoock, L. Karl, B. Gibson, A. E. Spiers, E. Penny, G. Finch. Hamilton attacked for a start but Hinton repulsed and Waipa raced away to the goal mouth but the defence was sound. Offside play stopped another attack by Waipa and then the game was transferred to the other end but West shot wide. Waipa. cleared but Hamilton came back to the attack and forced a corner, but Hunter’s shot was well stopped, and then West missed ;by a foot with a solid shot. Next , time he was more successful, finding the net in a melee to put Hamilton in the lead. Waipa forced a corner but j Penny missed and Hamilton returned to the attack. In a pretty movement McKibben beat Battson and netted t,o put Hamilton 2 up. Waipa retaliated . and raced to the goal-mouth, where Karl found the net and half-time came ' with the scores, Hamilton 2, Waipa 1. After half-time Waipa raced through j but A. Spiers hit across the goal. Hamilton were also unsuccessful in a raid on the goal and they could do | nothing with a comer. Penny raced

away but Sutherland stopped him. Anti other rush by Hamilton was spoilt by 'hitting too hard. Hamilton now attacked hotly but Hinton and R. Spiers were too sound. A. Spiers then raced through with the ball but Sutherland cleared. A corner to Waipa was of no avail and then a Waipa rush went clean through past Sutherland for Burns to equalise the scores. Ten minutes before time the local team assumed the offensive and swarmed to the goal and Bums added another to give Waipa the lead. Time was called soon after with the scores: Waipa A 3 Hamilton A 2 Messrs. Fabling (Hamilton) and T. Finch were the referees. B TEAIVI’B VIOTORY. In the B match the teams were fairly evenly matched in the first half but In the second the local team proved too good for the visitors. Soon after the start Waipa scored, A. 0. Finch breaking through and beating the goalie with a nice shot. The next score came when Rowe raced up the wing, centred, came into the circle and netted in a melee. The half-time scores were: Waipa R 2: Hamilton B 0. Upon resuming Hamilton attacked but were, repulsed by Sinnott and play was transferred to the other end of the field where Finch secured his second goal after a scramble in the goalmouth. Serlvon and Ryan each added a goal to Walpa’s tally and then Hamilton. In a nice movement, carried play down to the goal but the shot hit the post and was deflected. They came back to the attack and G. Boyd netted. From the bully Waipa again attacked and Seriven scored his second goal. Time cam» soon after with the scores:

WAIKATO WIN. TAUMARUNUI DEFEATED. (Special to Times.) TAUMARUNUI, Monday. In a fast game a Waikato team beat Taumarunui on Saturday by four goals to one. The visitors played well, combining effectively In spite of not having played together before. Taumarunui did not trouble the Waikato team to any great extent and Coombes, the goalie, received only one opportunity (o display any great defensive work. INTERPROVINCIAL MATCH! RESULTS IN DRAW. (From a Correspondent.) AUCKLAND, Saturday. In a challenge shield match to-day Auokland (holders) retained the shield .against Wellington, each side scoring a goal. Wellington soon settled down and the first half was In their favour, but they only scored once, thanks to the strong local defence.
