LOCAL OBSERVATIONS. The following 1 local observations on the weather are supplied by Miss Butld, of Messrs Balfour, Irvine and Webster, Limited. Hamilton: Barometer. Monday 30.20 Thermometer. Max. Min. Sunday 57 46 Mean Temperature, 5i.5 deg. The barometer reads 30.20 and has very little movement. Indications are for fair to cloudy weather to-day and to-morrow, with mild temperatures and westerly winds prevailing. The Rainfall. Rainfall for 48 hours ended 9 o’clock this morning, .031 n. Rainfall for previous 24 hours, .03in. Rainfall for August to date, .03in. Average rainfall for August, 3.96in. Rainfall for year to date, 27.551 n. Average yearly rainfall, 46.32in. BPEOIAL FORECAST. (By Govt. Meteorologist!. The special forecast by the Government Meteorologist covering the WaikutoThnmes Valley Is as follows Forecast: Moderate but freshening northerly winds. Weather fair at first and mild but shortly clouding over and rain developing. Seas slight to moderate, but rising. General Inference: An anticyclone Is moving off the northern portion of the Dominion, and a rather deep de - pression is approaching the southern extremity.
