PACIFIC CRUISE.

MAUNQANUI'S TOUR. ATTRACTIVE ITINERARY. The great popularity of cruises to the South Sea Islands is demonstrated by the fact that when the Union Steam Ship Company’s liner Alaunganui leaves Auckland to-morrow for an extended cruise to the islands of the Eastern Pacific she will be a full ship. The cruise this year is an extended one, touching the Cook Group, Society Islands, Samoa and Tonga, in the Society Islands calls will be made at the lovely islands of Moorea and Bora Bora, which have never before been visited by a cruise steamer. Apia, the capital of Samoa, with its charming native life and the added interest of its association with Robert Louis Stevenson, will be reached on August 16, and two days will be spent there, the M&nunganui then proceeding to Vavau, with its beautiful islandstudded harbour, where she arrives on the morning of August 20. Leaving Vavau that evening, the ship arrives next morning at Nukualofa, capital of Tonga, on the island of Tongatabu. Motor trips will be made to a number of points of interest. The departure from Nukualofa for Auckland will be made on Saturday evening, and the Maunganui will arrive there on Wednesday, August 25.
