TRACED BY BIG TOE.

A CROOK’S CAPTURE. Because his big toe is a peculiar shape, N. Cupido, an amateur crook, was sent to prison at, Hermanus. He was sentenced* to four months’ hard labour for housebreaking and theft. Gupido had been working as a carpenter’s mate at a certain house. He returned at night and climbed through a window into the room of a visitor. He stole £25. Next morning the police, searching for clues, found the print of a peculiarly shaped big toe on the ground beneath the window. They traced Cupido and compared the. print with the shape of his toe. They were exactly alike. No trace of the money could be found, but the toe’s evidence was sufficient to convict Gupido.
