CHROMIUM PLATING ▼ The idea of scientists who perfected the deposition of Chromium over Nickle deposit was to give the world that bright and lustrous finish which we see every day on such articles as Motor Car fittings, namely Bumpers, Radiators, Door Handles and the thousand and one small car parts; also household fittings and furnishings too numerous to mention, to say nothing of shop and office fittings which are in daily use in the display of goods for sale. \ Chromium plated articles when in use do not require anything more than a soft cloth or duster to remove dust which may and always does fall from windows and rooms of houses and shops, and by using these plated articles of utility much labour is therefore saved inasmuch as ordinary Nickle deposition requires abrasives, etc. to clean. Do the users of plated articles realise what a saving science has effected in the perfection of Chromium deposition? for only by the continued use of these goods can its value be recognised. And just as Chromium must be recognised as the most advanced method of Electro Deposition for the above uses so is SILVER the recognised medium by which we get almost eternal use in the household articles to which its use specially applies. In daily use in this town are many thousands of articles used in the house such as Spoons, Forks, Entree Dishes, Cake Baskets, Teapots, Hot Water Jugs, and ever so many other articles. These are still plated in the old and orthodox method of Silver Deposition; a method so far not superseded. Silver deposition on the above articles requires the science, skill and labour of many hundreds of men in the Dominion, thousands of ounces of fine Silver plate are annually imported from England for this purpose, and as an industry, the Electroplaters’ Art, that of depositing Silver, Nickle and Chromium upon metals, has become one of very large proportions and could it be recognised by the users of these metal articles the advantages of replating would be very much more widely known; and consequently an industry very much enlarged. ; Article by Hamilton Eleotroplaters Ltd., Montelth & Parkers Bldgs., Barton St. HAMILTON. m. i Wm A LIFE-SIZE STATUE RECENTLY SILVERPLATED IN AUCKLAND.
