Indeed they had a slight territorial advantage in the second spell. The home forwards played a great game, though their work as a pack was not as good as the Springboks, who came through in a solid body, led by Bastard, van der Berg and Nel. O’Dowda, Fowler and McClenaghan played crcat football, and Turner was the best atlowed by Williams. Sullivan was the outstanding Taranaki back. There were one or two tense moments in the* game and the referee stopped the play and lectured the Springboks. The crowd booed particularly when Richards was knocked down with a blow.
