WOMEN’S DIVISION.

TE KUITI BRANCH. Mrs W. Lee (Waitomo Caves) presided over the last meeting of the Te Kuiti branch of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union, when there was a good attendance. A motion of sympathy on the recent death of the president, Mrs Miller, was passed to her daughter, Miss Miller. •Wt was arranged to hold the branch's birthday party in the Town Hall on September 3. The ladies of the Mangarino Road will act as the hostesses for the next meeting, which will be one of the provincial council. Mrs W. Bain, who attended the Dominion conference, gave an interesting address.

In the flower circle competitions, | Mrs W. Park won the points prize, and Mrs T. N. Snowden the choicest flower competition. Mrs Davie won the twin dolls competition. The hostesses for the day were members from the Waitomo and Te Kumi districts. TE AROHA—WAIHOU BRANCH. Mrs A. Lennard presided over a large attendance of members at the July meeting of the Te Aroha—Walhou branch of the Women’s Division. Dr. S. T. Martin gave a most interesting address on “Disease and its Relationship to Unhappiness,” and a hearty vote of thanks and appreciation was carried by acclamation. A ten minutes talk Introduced by a member brought forth a discussion on corporal punishment for sexual offenders. the majority holding that this form of punishment was not corrective. A winter decoration competition was won by Mrs Turtley, with Mrs Mackay second. It was reported that the Gardening tClrole had spent a very profitable afternoon at Mrs H. A. Bradley’s residence. where rose pruning and growing was ably demonstrated by the hostess. Afternoon tea brought, the meeting to a close, the hostesses for the afternoon being Mesdames Stewart, Priest and B. W. Martin.
