ALF BLATCH DEFEATED. A WIN FOR QUOQINO. United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel Copyright. NEW YORK, July 29. The American light-weight boxer Gugglno (9st. 7 Jib.) defeated Alf Blatoh (9st. 121 b.), Australian lightweight champion, on points in a bout of eight rounds at Madison Square Garden this evening. Blatoh used his left effectively in the | early rounds, both me,n mixing it freely, , but Guggino hurt the Australian badly with a hard right to the jaw in the , fifth, and punished him with body blows at close quarters. In the last round the men stood toe to toe and traded iblows in mid-ring. The deci- j sion went to Gugglno on points. I Blatch met with a hostile reception from the crowd. Charles Lucas, the Australian's manager, stated subsequently that he was afraid they would now be compelled to return home, as it would be difficult to get further matches. In his first bout at Madison Square Garden on July 8 Blatch was defeated on a technical lcnock-out in the third round by the negro light-weight, Henry Armstrong.
