MORRINSVILLE VALUES. SHORT SUPPLY OF SHEEP. PIGS REMAIN VERY FIRM. Buoyancy wa-s evident in all sections of the market at the weekly Morrinsvllle stock sale yesterday, and although there was no appreciable hardening in values, reoent rates were easily held. Ox beef was in short supply and no heavy steel's were yarded, but for a line of well-finished llerefords £l2 12s 6d was realised. Lighter bullocks sold steadily to bring from £lO to £ll 10s. Several pens of light young Polled Angus cows and heifers met the market at Frankton quotations. An average yarding of boners was cleared at prices ourrent at recent fixtures, with meaty cows selling up to £5 10s. One of the smallest yardings of fat sheep this year came forward, and in consequence there was no easing on last values. Good fat wethers made to 36s 3d, and an offering of maiden four-tooth ewes were in request to find a buyer at 32s 6d. A few’ fat ewes were penned, and these also enjoyed a steady sale, to average 20s 6d for best, sorts. The fat lamb entry was confined to good quality pens, and these made to 27s 6d. i After a slacker market last wßek dairies again enjoyed a buoyant sale, but the offering represented a good deal better quality than at last Friday’s '■ fixture. Best young Jersey cows and j heifers, showing well up, were eagerly 'sought, and transactions around £lO 1 were not unusual, and several of the choicest lot's ranged to £l2 10s. Less typey cattle commanded prices ranging from £7 to £8 10s, while later descriptions were traded briskly at from £4 10s to £6. Stores comprised the bulk of the pig entry, and these continued to sell well, and a large entry of w’eaners firmed, with the best of these being absorbed at 2is. Heavy baconers again found strong competition, and well-finished

entries commanded figures up to 4gns, with lighter pigs at £3 16s. Values over the whole ranged from £3. Good lines in the porker section made 50s to 56: , with lighter sorts meeting the market at from 42s to 48s. An entry of breeding sows were ready of sale. The Farmers’ Co-operative Auctioneering Company Limited report:— Sheep-: At the weekly Morrinsville' stock sale yesterday there was only a small yarding comprising chiefly wether mutton, for which competition was firm and prices showed an advance on last w’eek’s quotations. Fat ewes were also keenly sought. Cattle: There was an average yarding. of ox beef with a good proportion of finished quality, for which competition was brisk. A line of eight prime steers from Miss E. Chepmell of Morrinsville averaged £l2 15s and thirteen light fat steers offered on acoount of Mr W. Mears of Walton realised £9 158 to £lO 12s. Cow and heifer beef was again yarded In full numbers, but with only a small proportion of flnishe’d quality and this In keen demand, whilst second quality also showed an improvement.’ Boners fetched last week’s rates while young cattle were' keenly sought. Dairy cattle: A full yarding of all olasses, was penned including many pens of in-calf heifers. Competition for good quality sorts close to profit was keen, and up to £J2 10s was realised for the best pens. Unfortunately, the entry included many pens of backward and small heifers, but these were not in demand. One truck of choice heifers, close to profit realised £lO 17s 6d. A good entry of dairy cows realised late rates.

Pigs: A small yarding of fats, came forward and an extra large entry of stores. Fat pigs sold fully up to late rates, while store pigs we're slightly ensler on previous sales.
