“UNJUST AND ABSURD.”
DAIRY FACTORY AT TIRAU. PROTEST FROM HINUERA COMPANY (Times Special Reporter). HINUERA, Thursday. “The granting of a permit for the erection of a new dairy factory at Tirau is unjust,” said the Hon J. Cotter, M.L.C., a director of the Hinuera Dairy Company, speaking at the annual meeting of suppliers to-day. Mr Cotter said that the new factory would be situated only seven miles from the Hinuera factory, which was capable of rendering excellent service to the whole of the district. The director considered that there should be at least 24 miles between dairy factories so as to leave each at least a radius of 12 miles in which to operate. “The granting of the new permit is something that, the farmers in this district must raise a voice against. The Commission of- Agriculture is for the purpose of eliminating overlapping. There is no need for a factory at Tirau and its erection would he absolutely absurd,” concluded Mr -Colter.
