LOCAL OBSERVATIONS. The following local observations on the weather are supplied 'by Miss Budd, of Messrs Balfour. Irvine and Webstar, Limited, Hamilton.: Barometer. Wednesday 30.00 Thursday 30.00 Thermometer. Max. Min. Tuesday 52 38 Wednesday 54 50 Mean Temperature, 52 deg. The barometer reads 30.00 and has very little movement. Indications are for fair to cloudy weather to-day and to-morrow, with scattered showers, westerly winds prevailing and mild temperatures, later becoming colder. The Rainfall. • Rainfall for 24 hours ended 9 o’clock this morning, .49in. Rainfall for previous 24 hours, .04in. Rainfall for July to date, 3.52111. Average rainfall for July, 4.83in. Rainfall for year to date, 27.50in. Average yearly rainfall, 46.321 n. SPECIAL FORECAST. (By Govt. Meteorologist). The special forecast by the Government Meteorologist covering the Walkatorhnmpi Valley ls,a« follows Forecast: Moderate to strong west to south-west winds prevailing but later moderating somewhat. Weather still rather changeable with showers at times in many places, but gradually Improving. Temperatures cool with some frosts. Seas moderate on coast, but rather rough to rough off shore. General inference: The anti-cyclone which has been moving slowly across Australia, now extends from New South Wales across the north Tasman Sea to beyond New Zealand. Secondary depressions continue, however, to traverse the southern portion of the South Island.
